Yo there everybody. I know I haven't been blogging for quite a while. So, wait for one more month, I will be posting again!(Don't talk to me about this in class)

IPW excursion

I learnt a lot during the excursion, we went to places that I have never been to. I have heard of the places before, but I have not actually been to the places before. So I was pretty excited when I heard that we were going to places such as the cenotaph and the Lim Bo Seng memorial. My group was doing the project on the cenotaph. I had never been to the cenotaph, and I did not know what it looked like then. So the project and the excursion allowed me to learn about the places and it's importance. I liked going to the Raffles landing site the best. While we were there we could see the famous Sir Stamford Raffles statue. To be honest, I have not been there before. My group's place was not pretty difficult. It was a war memorial on the people who died during world war one and wolrd war two.

History
The Cenotaph was erected as a memorial in honour of the 124 Singapore men who died in action during World War I (1914-1918). Recognition for those who died during World War II (1939-1945) were later added on the reverse side.It was designed by Architect Denis Santry of Messrs Swan & McLaren and was modelled after the Sir Edwin Lutyens Whitehall Cenotaph of 1920. The foundation stone was laid on 15 November 1920 by His Excellency the then-Governor of the Straits Settlements, Sir Lawrence Nunns Guillemard, K.C.B., in the presence of M. Georges Clemenceau, Premier of France and Minister of War as well as the General Officer commanding the troops, Major-General Sir D.H. Ridout.It was unveiled on 31 March 1922 in a solemn ceremony by his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales (later Duke of Windsor and King Edward VIII) during his tour of Malaya, India, Australia and New Zealand.

Description
The Cenotaph is a made of local granite and is nearly sixty feet high. Bronze tablets on both sides of the Cenotaph bears the names of the men from the Straits Settlement who perished in the war. Five steps lead up to the monument bearing the dates 1914, 1915, 1916, 1917 and 1918, marking the war years of World War I. Crowning the structure is a sarcophagus with a bronze lion beneath a bronze medallion consisting of a laurel wreath of victory enclosing a crown. It symbolises the crown to which these men had rallied and is also a reflection of the Crown Colony. Lower down is the inscription "The Glorious Dead" and below the inscription are the dates 1914-1918. On the reverse side, though no names are listed to commemorate the World War II heroes, the stark phrase "They died so we might live" is inscribed in the four main languages: English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil. There are 14 pylons on both sides of the stone structure bearing the names of famous battles with each battle surmounted by a laurel wreath. Overall it is a simple granite structure wrought with just a hammer and a chisel.

And you can see the picture of the cenotaph in my blog. I hoped everyone had learnt a lot of new things. The whole project was fun adn enjoyable.

Exams

Exmas, when this word comes to our mind, it drives most of us crazy. But not me. I take the examination like a normal thing. Exams are not too bad. In fact exams are all right. Sometimes we will feel pressurise because our parents have high expectations for us. But my parents do not have that high expectations of me. They alays say try your best. And that's what they expect of me. Thats why I am happy. And that is why I scored pretty well for my exams. Because I'm not stressed at all taht I will not sore that high and that my parents will cane me. So, we need not take exams so seriously. Just take it as a normal exercise

Bullies

Bullies are bad. And they think that bullying people is fun and entertaining. Actually, it hurts a lot when you get bullied by someone else. You will be hurt internally and externally. Bullies think that they are strong and brave but actually they're not. They are not even strong and brave. The only thing is that they are good at bullying others and hurting their feelings. I don't know why Kristian likes to bully Zen Yan. Is it really that funny and fun when he run around wanting to hit you in the face. If you have bullied the person, when he or she complain, fingers will be pointed at you because you are the one who always bullies him. I think the bullies follow those television programme too much. So that's why they bully ohters. So, I think bullying in our class must stopped, although I think that is virtually impossible.

liverpool lose!

What the! Liverpool lost to Man U. So irritating. The referee anyhow go and give red card to Mascherano. You not Liverpool will win. At least Arsenal lost. I do not like them at all. What's so good about them. They lost to Chelsea 2-1. With Drogba scoring. At least Kimi win in his Ferrari. So I 'm really happy about that. But Massa crashed out again. He still does not know how to drive without traction control. He should learn from his teamate more. Hamilton came in fifth. Yay! He is my most hated driver because he is Kimi Rakkenion rival. I hope Tger Woods will win. He is five shots back. He must win. He is my favourite golf player. So this week is ok. I hope Liverpool will win Everton in their next match.

Debate

Hi all!
I'm going to go to a debating competition with Kristian, Hui Ying and Xue Xian. Debating is quite tough, we need to search for a lot of information about the motion to define it and to win, For the first motion, I will be speaker three. I will talk about how carttoons are now so realistic and how watching cartoons too long can neglect your studies. Fin ding out information was tough. You will have to find the information . You also have about only one week to prepare for the debate. Personally, I think our case is easier as there are more points for us to say. We also need to think what the opposition think, in order to rebuttt in a way that you can earn more points.On maids are better than mother. I think mothers are better than maids. Why? There are a lot of reasons. One is although mothers spend less time, the quality of the time is far more better than maids. So I think mothers are so much better than maids. On this motion, I will be the second speaker, and I won't have to say the point of information. So wish us all the best. And I hoe we can at least progress into the secongd round. And hopefully we can advanece further in the competition.
Result: We loss by two points
